Exploring Udaipur includes
This is considered to be one of the biggest palaces of Rajasthan. Not only know for being the biggest bit also considered most expensive monument. Visiting the whole palace can take up lot of your time as it offers something very exquisite.
It is the construction of Maharana Udai Singh in the year 1599. There have been numerous additions made to this palace and today this palace is wonderful combination of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Some of the places that are worth visiting are Amar Vilas, Moti ahal, Durbar Hall, Badi Mahal and Jagdish Mandir.
Towards the north of city palace there is a Jagdish Mandir built in seventeenth century. It comprises of black stone idol of Lord Vishnu. Exactly opposite to the idol on the exterior side there is his vehicle called as garuda which is a mythical bird. In the evening you will hear the devotional songs sang by the ladies on the beats of dholaks.
There is a lake adjacent to the city palace. This lake is known for the boat ride. Boating is really cheerful when the sun goes down. There are mainly two islands in the lake. One of them is Jag Niwas. This is the one of the bets hotels. Another one is Jag Mandir. This is a beautiful sandstone pavilion where Shah Jahan took refuge at the time he was rebelling with his father. Today it has become a best place for parties.
Sahelion Ki Bari
This garden was constructed in the eighteenth century by Maharana Sangram for the entertainment of the forty eight maids that came with the dowry of queen's of Udaipur. The name of the garden is also set on the basis of this and it means garden of maids of honor. It comprises of fountains, lotus pool as well as marble elephants.
Folk Lore Museum
This is not a well maintained museum but then too it exhibits paintings, photographs as well as masks of Indian tribal people, musical instruments used by them and the various forms of art. At this museum one thing that you would surely enjoy is the puppet show which is held on the regular basis.
